Unfortunately I don’t have a 5.5 gen to try.įirst of all thanks for making this little jewel 😉 The only thing I can think of to try is to put the sdxc or ssd adaptor in another 7.5gen ipod, just in case its a fault with the logic board of these. I’m not having much luck with either the sdxc pod or the ssd one (the latter tends to corrupt itself when syncing – you wait 5 hours for it to finish, then it goes to the red-cross when you eject – I’m increasingly thinking its due to heat).

The battery is fully charged, but its as if either upon ejection or upon connection to the PC the ipod suffers some corruption that means it can no longer be recognised by the PC unless its in disk mode. It will only ever work for a period, after being loaded up the first time, but any attempt to sync again or to reboot the device and it goes back to the apple icon reboot loop. The same thing happens if I do a forced ‘select-menu’ reboot of the ipod. I can still connect in disk mode and see everything (all the content) is still there, but I can’t connect in ipod mode and can’t use the ipod any more, and have to restore and resync it. Then the ipod will behave as if its completely corrupt, and will ask to be restored.

Sometimes I then notice corrupted or swapped-round art-work (though artwork sometimes gets confused even on my hd ipod, the firmware seems to struggle with that in general).īut even if I don’t, every single time I then connect the pod to the PC again, windows will pause, then claim the disk is unformatted. (I have found that any attempt to interrupt the sync to break it into shorter batches will cause iTunes to fall over, requiring it to be restarted, and then a wait while it checks library and verifies ipod)

I sync a full 240gb or so to it (takes 4-5hours) eject it. Be wary of cheap, high capacity cards – If it looks too good to be true – then it is fake! Install iFlash-Quad into iPod, making sure the ribbon is fully home and the black bar is locked down. Install MicroSD card(s) in to the iFlash-Quad, If not using 4 MicroSD cards then load from slot uSD1 up. iPod is ready to accept the iFlash board. Remove all rubber bumpers and strips from the iPods if any remain after the HDD is removed. Gently lift the black bar to release the ribbon from the HDD. Rest the front and back side by side, be careful to not cause too much stress on the headphone ribbon. I suggest watching some iPod opening videos on the internet.īefore pulling the case apart, release the battery cable – lift the black lock bar -or- gently using even pressure pull up the battery ribbon away from the connector. Using suitable tools, release the holding clips, making your way around the case till it opens.
